Next year Britain will be celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Right now Ruddingtonians are being asked how we’d like mark our longest ever serving monarch’s milestone here in the village.
Ruddington Parish Council is starting to organise events to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II‘s seventy years on the throne, which are to be celebrated from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022.
Councillor Graham Fletchers says: “We are at the very early stages at the moment. Our aim is to meet with village groups, etc, to bring them all together and try and coordinate activities over the whole Jubilee weekend. We are holding a meeting on the 23rd of November to listen to everyone’s ideas and plans – so that we can hopefully have activities on each day of the jubilee period.”
Ideas put forward so far include the Parish Council lighting a beacon on June 2nd and and planting of another tree specifically to commemorate Her Majesty’s seventy years’ reign. Whether you own a business, are part of a Ruddington group, or are simply a village resident keen to join in with the planning, they would very much like to hear from you.
You’re invited to the first official planning meeting at St Peter’s Rooms on Church Street this Tuesday, 23rd November, at 7.30pm. If possible, you’re asked to contact RPC first, indicating your interest, so they know how many people to expect.
If you’re unable to attend the meeting, you can use the same contact details to let them know your own ideas – or email Graham directly via grahamfletcher.ruddingtonpc@yahoo.com.
